Lesson 4
I have used Proquest before, but that was in high school! I searched for the same topic, King Tutankhamun, as I used for my senior term paper. My search came up with 920 results that you can narrow down by source type. The suggested subjects were a helpful way to expand your search options. I also like how the site was easy to navigate - the recent searches and back to result list were easy to find. I also noticed that some articles were available to translate to another language. I read over some other blog posts, and it seems we are pretty much on the same page. We are discovering how useful these resources are and how we can use them more every day. Under Publications I searched for library and was pleased to see the number of periodicals available. I believe Library Journal is over $150 for a year's print subscription. I'm loving all these free resources!!!

Librena, I am impressed with your understanding of ProQuest and equally impressed with your ability to spell King Tut's name out! :) I, too, love the suggested topics, since I rarely think of the same search terms as ProQuest does. You also get the benefit of the Publications tab--cover to cover journals 24/7 from anywhere!
ReplyDeleteThanks for helping me out with this one (and others - lol)! I do like how it is easy to navigate around the site, tells you where the information is coming from - magazine or scholar were some that I found on my search. I am liking how we can use these different sites to learn - they weren't available when I was in school - wish they were, would have helped with my papers lol It will be good for any students of any age to use for any type of searching for information.
