I searched for information on the polar bear. The information was easy to understand and to find. The variety of search options was helpful as were the links to more information. This is a great tool for students who are writing a paper or just browsing for fun. On World Book Advanced, I searched for information on Spain. Primary sources are great for students doing research papers. I know I had trouble finding enough for some papers in college, so this would be helpful to have them listed out for you. Also, the maps, tables, videos, and pictures are great for visual learners. The options for translation with World Book Discover would be helpful to patrons who are not good readers of English, and also helpful to those learning another language. I didn't find much difference in the School Edition and Public Library Edtion. The information and pictures were the same. Since I speak some Spanish, I looked up oso polar in the World Book Foreign Language Edition. The information found here is also the same, but of course it is in Spanish. The reading voice could be a little less robotic, but overall a great resource. I remember being shown the life skills and government resources on World Book Online Reference Center before, but must admit that I forgot they were there. Another reason to keep exploring! The World Book online resources are great tools for all types of library users.
Thanks for the comments, librena! We think World Book has something for everyone. I agree that to have links to the supplemental material pop up in the article sidebars is really handy. You are correct--the school & public editions are essentially the same, but there are a few different special features in each.
